Uchicago Business Opportunity
Website Design & Development
Completed the full redesign of the University of Chicago’s Office of Business Opportunity (formerly The Office of Business Diversity) website.
The challenge?
Rebuilding the site to align with new federal guidelines that move away from DEI language and frameworks.
Rebuilding the site to align with new federal guidelines that move away from DEI language and frameworks.
We had to rethink everything — structure, messaging, visual tone — while preserving the spirit of access, inclusion, and economic empowerment. It wasn’t easy, but our team leaned into clarity, compliance, and creativity to deliver a site that’s future-ready and mission-aligned.
Project Objectives
Project Objectives
Our team was tasked with more than a name change. We led a full-scale redesign rooted in clarity, accessibility, and strategic repositioning. Key objectives included:
- Reframing the Narrative: Shift from DEI-specific language to a broader, values-driven message centered on opportunity, innovation, and shared success.
- Audience Expansion: Ensure the platform speaks to a wider range of vendors—including minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned, and local businesses—without relying on politically sensitive terminology.
- Streamlined User Experience: Redesign the site architecture to simplify navigation, improve vendor onboarding, and highlight key resources and bid opportunities.
- Visual Refresh: Develop a clean, modern design that reflects UChicago’s institutional prestige while remaining approachable and community-oriented.
- Content Strategy: Craft messaging that balances compliance, transparency, and impact—reinforcing the university’s role as a catalyst for economic inclusion.
The new UChicago Business Opportunity site launched with strong internal support and positive reception from external partners. It now serves as a dynamic hub for supplier engagement, reflecting the university’s evolving priorities while honoring its legacy of inclusive practice.
